Maialino- Gramercy Park

It is Restaurant Week again in New York and as such a foodie, I am so excited! Maialino, right off of Gramercy Park, has been on my list of must eat places in the city for a long time now and this past Friday, I was thrilled to finally check it out. My girlfriends and I were planning a celebratory lunch and thankfully with our summer Fridays, we were able to get in at Maialino for lunch.

Maialino has a rustic meets modern Italian feel with nice wood detailing and a very pretty bar. There are long communal bar tables, as well as more formal dining area which are both packed seven days a week. Weekend night reservations are pretty hard to come by and can be booked up to a month in advanced, so book early if you want to check it out.

I must say, of all the restaurant week menus I have seen, this is by far one of the best. They have two menus you can choose between with two price points which is a unique concept. Most restaurants just throw in "add ons" and they are always on the most desired option. Having the two menus gives so many more options and I loved that there was no additional charges on anything. My friends and I were split between the two menus, but everything we ordered was absolutely delicious.

As we were celebrating, wine was in order and we were quick to order up a few bottles of rosé.

I started off with some melon and proscuitto, a classic dish which is so simple but so perfect.

Followed up with some pappardelle bolognese which was rich and delicious... hitting the spot.. noms

And finished off with the most amazing lemon pudding cake. It was to die for. Bright and fresh flavors with the perfect spongy but creamy cake. Not too sweet or sour. I may have to go back just to order this again!

Desserts were definitely a high point of the meal. One of my friends ordered an olive oil cake and the other had the most colorful gelato I have ever seen!

Clearly she ordered it to match her lipstick.

After lunch, we continued our Friday fun day by heading over to the rooftop bar of Salvation Taco in the Pod Hotel for some afternoon drinks.

The drinks were a little extreme... only way to describe it the bar tender was straight up out of control with the liquor... but the company was good and the weather was perfect.

Perfect summers day in the city with great friends and great views!

Happy Summer!
