Hello Sailor!

For anyone who hasn't heard, New York is having a beautiful summer. Yes it rains a lot during the week, but thankfully the weather gods have given us sunshine filled weekends!

As such, I was so excited when C's family invited us out  to go sailing! I love the sea and had never been sailing so was counting down the days. When we arrived at the docs, we weren't positive about which boat was ours so naturally we decided wandering around aimlessly was the best way to find it. We picked out our favorite boats and talked about sailing the seas.

Oh Hello Sailor!

After wandering around for awhile and saying hello to all the fellow sailors, we finally spotted the beautiful boat. Also earlier, when I said we were going sailing... I probably should have clarified that this was not an all hands on deck kind of sailing... I guess you could even say the technical terms is yachting... I mean, the boat is bigger than my apartment... 3 beds, 2 baths... where can I sign... I will take it!

In proper boating fashion, we kicked our shoes off and made ourselves at home.

Please note the almost matching nautical wear.

Finally it was time push off and head out into the bay for a lovely day on the water. C quickly got to work... did I mention he is a sailor at heart.

We finally set sail and pushed off from Port Washington on the North Shore of Long Island. For any literary folks, or for anyone who happened to catch a semi super famous movie called The Great Gatsby  by F. Scott Fitzgerld, you may have heard of West Egg and East Egg. Port Washington falls directly in East Egg and what they described in the movies about old and new money, still holds fairly true in that there is a lot of money around this bay.

"I lived at West Egg, the – well, the least fashionable of the two, though this is a most superficial tag to express the bizarre and not a little sinister contrast between them. My house was at the very tip of the egg, only fifty yards from the Sound, and squeezed between two huge places that rented for twelve or fifteen thousand a season. The one on my right was a colossal affair by any standard... Across the courtesy bay the white palaces of fashionable East Egg glittered along the water, and the history of the summer really begins on the evening I drove over there to have dinner with the Tom Buchanans."- The Great Gastby, F. Scott Fitzgerald

C loves sailing/fishing/boating and he was in heaven driving the ship around the bay.

We cruised around, picking out our future mansions and just enjoyed the day.

...and then it was time for the professionals to take over the driving...

Just kidding... don't worry Mom, I didn't actually drive the boat you can breathe easy now... But I did get to hop up on the captains chair and pretend to be skipper. I wouldn't mind one bit owning a boat like this... I could see this working really well into my lifestyle.

As the waves were getting a little choppy we heading back in to the docks for some cocktails.

The inside of the boat is pretty amazing. With the beautiful hard wood everywhere and the modern sleek style this was a very easy boat to get comfortable in. It has every modern luxury anyone could possible want and plenty of room to host people.

I could see how this could turn into a lifestyle.

Beautiful day on the water with an amazing captain if I do say so myself.
